Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3/4 cup warm water or milk
- 3 tablespoons zaatar spice blend
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for topping)
-1 spoon sumac powder
Procedure:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
2. Add the olive oil and warm water to the dry ingredients. Mix well until a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
6. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions.
7. Roll out each portion into a circular shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
8. Transfer the dough circles onto the prepared baking sheet.
9. Spread 1.5 tablespoons of zaatar spice blend evenly over each dough circle.
10. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the zaatar topping.
11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown.
